Rabies Exposure
Environmental Health provides guidance and education to the public for the prevention of rabies transmission. In addition, EH submits specimens to the Georgia Public Health Laboratory for rabies testing and ensures the public is not at risk of rabies following an animal bite.
If you have been involved in an animal bite and are concerned about rabies transmission and it is outside our office hours or the situation is urgent, please call Georgia Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 and/or contact a medical provider. If you have a medical emergency, please dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
If you have general questions about rabies, a non-urgent call, or need to follow-up on an animal bite case, please contact your local EH office below.
