On-Site Sewage Management (OSSMS)
Environmental

Environmental Health evaluates and regulates the location and installation of various types of septic tank systems. We also provide education and information to property owners, septic contractors, and partner agencies to assist with locating and maintaining existing systems. Properly installed and maintained septic systems protect public health by preventing untreated sewage from contaminating the environments in which people live.

Permits must be obtained before the installation of any on-site sewage system. This includes new septic systems, additions, modifications and repairs.

If you need to apply for a septic permit, find a copy of a septic drawing, or have general questions please contact your local EH office below.  For a copy of the Georgia On-Site Sewage Management Systems manual, Georgia approved drainfield and tank products lists, Georgia licensed installers, pumper and soil classifiers lists, and related information, please see the Georgia DPH website here : https://dph.georgia.gov/environmental-health/onsite-sewage
